A meal a day
Poverty remains a world crisis and The International Food Policy Research Institute has found more than 300 million children around the world go hungry. In South Africa, this remains a harsh reality for many families living below the poverty line, and for many of these children in rural schools around South Africa, the only meal they will receive is through a feeding program.
Our “A Meal a Day” initiative is allowing us to meet this great need by reaching one school at a time. Each of the schools we support has between 1000 – 1200 children in attendance however a large number of children depend on a school feeding program for their one meal. This program also is established to supply meals for children over the school holidays as well.
Every child should have the opportunity to have a wonderful life, but a child with an empty tummy has no dreams but only thoughts of where their next meal will come from.
With your help, we can do our part in breaking the cycle of poverty
“When a poor person dies of hunger, it has not happened because God did not take care of him or her. It has happened because neither you nor I wanted to give that person what he or she needed.” — Mother Teresa, Roman Catholic nun
